About The Director
She is the Pioneer Principal investigator of the first ever FG-WHO Rotavirus surveillance research for the first time in Nigeria in 2010; Head of the team that placed Nigeria on the World Health Organization Global map of rotavirus reporting countries of the world, to WHO Global Headquarters at Geneva in 2010. She is the National Principal investigator of the first ever conducted WHO Global Headquarters Geneva / Federal Government polio vaccine randomized controlled, multi-centre clinical trial in Nigeria from 2016 – 2017. For the past decade, she has also been involved in other new vaccines surveillance activities and has thus generated tremendous molecular and epidemiological data. She and her team trained, established and mentored WHO AFRO Fed Govt / WHO AFRO rotavirus surveillance/ research sites at University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital in 2013, Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital Bauchi, Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Zaria both in Sept 2017. She has achieved Outstanding Reviewer (Vaccine journal 2017, was awarded this recognition as one of the top 10th percentile of reviewers for the Journal, in terms of the number of manuscript reviews completed in the last two years); also awarded a Recognized Reviewer (for Vaccine journal 2016).
Prof Beckie Tagbo is the Chair of the WHO AFRICAN ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON VACCINE SAFETY (AACVS).

she is an Immunization Training Consultant, an Immunization Field Expert, and an Immunization Field supervisor and monitor involved in both pre and post service immunization training. She has vast experience in immunization research, policies, adverse events following immunization (AEFI) policy meetings/consultation/special assignments, public health, vaccine clinical trial, immunization programme implementation / training, advocacy, advisory committee membership, immunization communication and vaccine hesitancy resolutions. She is the former Director/Head of the Institute of Child Health, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital. She is a member of the expert panel that developed the Pan-African Antimicrobial Treatment Guidelines for Common Infections and Syndromes in Pediatric Patients (2020/2021), on behalf of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) and the Center for Disease Dynamics, Economics & Policy (CDDEP).
